How to Mount a Plasma TV

Plasma TV can be viewed by putting it on any furniture or table. But seriously it is not cool. Your high-end large plasma TV deserves better treatment. You can mount your plasma TV on wall and get a completely new experience of viewing television.

If you are good with measurements, know how to drill and can maintain balance, then you can mount a plasma TV on your own. But don’t think that the process is very easy. Following the instructions of installation strictly might not be enough to mount your plasma TV successfully. You need the combination of accuracy and strength to do the job successfully. Don’t just grab your driller and run it through your wall. Give your self time and think out a plan.

How to Mount a Plasma TV

First thing that you need to decide is the position of the wall where you will be mounting your flat panel TV. The screen of the TV is large and hence it will not look good if you mount it on a relatively small wall. The easiest way to go is selecting a wall, the size of which is double than the width of the TV. This is important because it looks good and you need space for placing the accessories properly.

Check out the height and the level of the television before mounting. Both the height and the level must match your convenience to view the television. If the positioning is right, then it will be relaxing for your eyes and neck to watch the television.  If you will watch TV sitting on sofa, then the center of the TV screen must be at the level of your eyes. But this won’t be a comfortable position, if you watch the TV while standing. Thus, the placement of the mounting should be perfect so that it can be adjusted a little bit according to your preference.

Required Tools

Proper tools are very essential to mount your plasma TV successfully and safely. Some of the basic tools needed for the job are a socket set, screwdrivers, cordless drill, box cutter, drywall saw and a measurement tape. All these tools might be available at your home but there is one important tool called a stud finder. If you do not have it, buy it from the market. You also need proper cabling to mount a plasma TV.

Wall Studs and Wiring

When you are mounting the plasma television, you must have two wall studs to support the weight. The mounting rails must be placed to the back portion of the screen of the television. Take your drywall saw or box cutter and cut the hole so that the wires can be placed properly. You can also use cable brackets and do the wiring job in the room-corners.

Mounting Anchors

Place the mounting anchors by drilling holes in the wall. The anchors must protect the mounting bracket to a wall stud. Make those anchors locked properly by using a socket wrench. Anchoring must be done properly as the entire support of the plasma TV will balance on these bolts.

Ask someone to help you in putting the plasma TV on the wall mount. This is how you can mount a plasma TV safely.
